Textiles

Lindsey is a qualified textile designer and worked in the textile industry as well as running a successful felt-making business for over thirty years.

After years of making and creating her sophisticated felt products, recently, for a number of reasons, Lindsey made the momentous decision to become a full-time painter.

The good news is, it means she can share with you her top-secret felt printing technique!

Working from her studio in Scarborough, Lindsey is inspired and driven by a love of nature and the inherent essence of her surroundings.

Fortunate to live by the sea and in a beautiful part of the country, she also loves the challenge of combining many and varied textile/art processes and techniques.

Originally a weave designer in the automotive industry, after starting a family, Lindsey became self-employed and sidestepped into the world of felt making…

The word ‘felt’ brings with it a variety of reactions – some not so positive – so Lindsey’s aim was to create sophisticated, quality products that defied their description and to alter the unfair perception that felt has to be brightly coloured, thick, and unsophisticated! It is such a versatile medium.

After thirteen (or more!) years producing felt products, for a variety of reasons, Lindsey decided to hang up her fleeces and concentrate on her painting.

If you are interested in how Lindsey printed such clear images onto her felt, her textile swan song was to create an online course, teaching you all you need to know about
